Timbaland Discusses Potential Justin Timberlake & Usher Verzuz
After last week’s Verzuz battle against Keyshia Cole and Ashanti, social media users took to Twitter to speculate suitable contenders for another R&B showdown. Among the many ideas that were thrown around, fans debated most about Justin Timberlake and Usher — a Verzuz even Drake is eager to see.
During an interview on ESPN’s “Jalen & Jacoby,” Timbaland acknowledged fans’ request to see Usher face off with Timberlake, revealing Drake was particularly interested in that matchup.
“Yes, we know,” he said. “It’s so funny, Drake hit me up too about it. He said, ‘We gotta make that happen.’ I said, ‘Soon to come. Soon to come.’”
The Virginia producer — who appeared on the show alongside Verzuz co-founder Swizz Beatz — also confirmed they’re working on a battle between Busta Rhymes and frequent collaborator Missy Elliott.
“It is, to me, the best party that could ever happen on Verzuz,” Tim said. “It’s just a matter of comfort zone of my sister wanting to celebrate with her brother. Understanding that it’s not a competition, it’s a party. I have been talking to her about that, but I think that’s an amazing Verzuz.”
