Roddy Ricch carved out his space as one of the hottest emerging acts of the year after releasing his debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial at the end of 2019. The record debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and hosted Ricch’s smash-hit “The Box,” which has gone on to become his highest-charting single to date.

While the past few months have given way to successful collaborations with DaBaby and Pop Smoke, Ricch has mainly been laying low. Speaking with GQ, the rapper revealed what’s been keeping him busy while in self-isolation and offered a few hints about his follow-up sophomore effort.

“The next album is going to be a full blown masterpiece,” Ricch said to GQ. “A real idea. A real body of work.”

Roddy said that while he’s recorded enough music to technically release a full-length project right now, he plans to wait for the ideal time to drop the album.

“It’s really not about it being ready or not ready. It’s more about the timing,” he explained. “I really just drop when I feel like it.”

The rapper said that quarantine has caused him to record “a little less music” than usual, but that’s not such a bad thing.
