Album Review: Lil Tecca - We Love You Tecca

After listening to this project, I was about to go in to this review bashing the project for it’s simplicity and lack of substance. Then it hit me, the Queens rapper Lil Tecca is a young, awkward, teenager who is just having fun. That is exactly how I decided to listen to this project for the second time. After another listen, I enjoyed this project slightly more. So to be clear, I reviewed this project differently than a typical artist that I would take more serious.

After his internet success track ‘Ransom’ Lil Tecca was fortunate enough to also get a melodic verse from Juice WRLD that landed a spot on the last track of the project. The single being a perfect example of what to expect for the entire project. Melodies, auto-tuned filled, and AAAA rhyme schemes on pretty much every song.

For the tracks I enjoyed such as 'Ransom’, ‘Out of Luck’, and ‘Love Me’ are catchy songs that don’t have much substance or good songwriting but are infectious enough and easy on the ear to be on repeat. With every song being and average of 2 minutes long, Tecca doesn’t over stay his welcome on songs, however, he does remain with autotune for what seems to be every song with no features or breaks.

Lyrically and sonically this project sounds like a teenager who is now popular and getting attention from girls and just having fun. Definitely a number of songs seem like freestyle tracks over “type of” beats but man when it works, it works.
